Although my style hasn't changed my decorating budget has because of the recession. I've always been cost-conscious and over the past year I have found myself trying to fix up what I have instead of buying new pieces, more than ever. For example, instead of reupholstering a pair of chairs I had them slipcovered. I wanted to buy new lamps but settled for new shades. I've found that this approach has been a good thing. Not only have I saved money but I actually like the way these projects have turned out and no longer feel as though they are just temporary fixes.
