What is the most sentimental piece of furniture or accessory in your home and why does it mean so much to you?

Congratulations to the winner.
Here's what she wrote...

I can give a bona fide reason for why everything around my home is sentimental, but the twin patchwork quilts my aged mother assembled by hand are the most.

From her early seventies Mom continually traveled on a bus around the country. She went round and round from coast to coast for 10 to 15 years visiting several children, grandchildren, a sister, a brother, and a few friends. When asked where home was, she proudly proclaimed she had none! She always brought 2 or 3 suitcases, mostly filled with sewing projects for each family. Mine was the stack of reversible fabric squares with the intricate wedding ring design on one side.

It was a sad time for us when she was no longer fit for travel. Having these quilts is a constant reminder of her skills Ñ in her early years as a tailor and dressmaker, and in later life, her ability in making her home where ever she happened to be.

She never embroidered 'Home is where the heart is," she lived it.
